Peter Burt and Robin Crane both grew up in Newfoundland before heading out into the world. As a reputable chef, Peter proved he was worth his salt in some of the finest restaurants and kitchens across Canada as well as Australia, China, and Spain. Feeling the call of home, he returned in 2011 and began working as the Chef de cuisine at Raymond's Restaurant in St.John's, Newfoundland. While there, he had an epiphany: Newfoundlanders are surrounded by salt water, why not make a business out of it? That's when he began perfecting his method of making sea salt, eventually moving the company to Bonavista in 2017 with Robin, his partner and wife. Today, the duo share the art of sea salt with all those who seek to add it's quality and taste to their cooking.
